KING OF GAMES'S PROFILE
I'm a young fool and I make games via RM. I enjoy game mechanics and theories, especially new graphical experiments. I'm a master chip splicer and I draw my own resources as well. Teaching myself how to digitally paint via PS, after pixeling for several years.

Research, Mofo, Do You Do It?
That's a problem with data orientation and game presentation. It doesn't negate the validity of utilizing research. I agree that players shouldn't be bashed over the head with knowledge or facts about the world, but the information can still be communicated through some means effectively. It's up to the game creator to make that interesting.

Although that mini-map seems awfully convoluted and expansive to read at a moment's glance, which is the point of mini-maps: quick fix orientation.
Games that nobody remember?
Jurassic Park II: The Chaos Continues, for GameBoy:
How the Grinch Stole Christmas, for Sega Dreamcast:
True Lies, for Snes:
These are all from a time when movie games were actually legitimate, and although silly and ridiculous, also really fun. Movie games these days are just phoned in contract fodder for quick bucks.

Research, Mofo, Do You Do It?
For me, it gets to the point of obsession. The research consumes me as I become entrenched in its subject matter. I can't help it, when it is something I love, I obtain a diligent work ethic and voracity for knowledge. I like to make sure everything is legit (according to the set-up parameters of the game)and check's out, no matter what the game type is.
I read articles, books, watch certain movies, research other games, listen to certain music, it creates a solidified mindset. I also like to take it to another layer, that is, where did my inspirations get their inspirations from? (<3 making of " books)
Whether they articulate themselves explicitly or subconsciously in the game is irrelevant. To internalize these qualities, to keep them in your mind, will give you an unprecedented level of authenticity in your game.

The Screenshot Topic Returns
With the big trees, don't just blur them, or keep them at 2x. Since they're a bigger resolution, you should go back in and work around the edges to make it smoother, by putting pixels in between the larger "pixels".
Resource Museum
Resource Museum
Does anyone have those MnB/Refmap modern city chipsets? Some of the pieces were blatanly based off Theo tiles. It was in the main help/resource topic, but that site, along with all of its terrific refmaps edits of different time periods (egypt, japan, modern city) is down. Greatly appreciate if anyone has them.
Emotional Movies
Comedy Games
Can you elaborate on that? Do you mean like joke games are games that aren't serious/meant to be taken seriously whereas a comedy game is a game that takes itself seriously and yet promotes laughter?
There are also games that return to tropes in a post tropes way, like say, Hero's Realm, or The Realms Shattered, Generica, etc. But I wouldn't classify those as joke or comedy games.
